About Bob Utber

At 84 years of age Citrus Bob is doing what he has always done since growing up on a small farm at Lang Lang. Talking, watching and writing sport and in recent years writing books. He lives in Mildura with his very considerate wife (Jenny) and a groodle named 'Chloe on Flinders' and can be found at Deakin 27 every day.

  1. Huge grandstand in the second one, must be in wealthy area…

  2. Sort of wishing they are the most recent Collingwood premiership teams, but possibly not….

  3. I reckon they’re both from down Geelong way. The top picture could be a works team wearing whatever footy gear they owned. The hoops worn by a couple make me think Geelong.

The stand in the second picture is almost definitely the old Corio Oval grandstand in Eastern Park, Geelong. The team? No idea but I’ll hazard a guess at East Geelong around 1910. My old grandpa might have been at the game. He loved the local Geelong footy, especially games involving St Mary’s.

    Cheers, Burkie

Burkie you are right in regard to the second photo is of the old crio oval and their grandstand and I think the team is Geelong Postal or something like that. Will find out more. They look a formidable lot!

    The first photo circa 1905?

Bucko – the first photo could be the Collingwood team having left the ground against Hawthorn (5/7/2019).

Noel Mc – don’t think Corio would have been too effluent (thanks Kath!)
