Pundits applauded the nomination of Chunky Jones as the Demons’ interim skipper.
“A natural leader”, they chorused.
Similar sentiments were sometimes expressed about S.K.Warne and his ultimately unfulfilled leadership aspirations.
Which players have been, perhaps wrongly, overlooked for captaincy – and who look “natural” appointments for the future?

Is Marc Murphy struggling in the shadow of the great Juddy?
Keith Miller and Warney would have been wonderful Australian captains on the field. Miller in particular was wrongly overlooked. For Collingwood I see the captaincy succession going to Pendlebury followed by Sidebottom after Maxwell. Sadly I have no idea where our next Test skipper after Clarke will come from.
Rod Marsh should have been Captain when Aust , cricket was playing yo yo with Greg
Chappell , and , Kim Hughes , neither of whom was captaincy material.
Football wise , Patrick Dangerfield has captaincy stamped all over him , not with bloody tattoos either
