……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

The Silver Anniversary of Stevie Kolyniuk’s baulk of Graham Wright for a match winning goal was sweet.

As my son said last night; “There’s nothing better than walking out of the ground and seeing their miserable faces!”

Everyone has a favourite memory of a win over the Pies.

For many ‘Scrays it was the MCG 25 yrs ago this week.

What’s yours?

The Ugly Gloating Footscray supporter…. rarer than Thylacine sightings!,… but bugger it I’m in
Bruce’s call still haunts me ‘Will he take him on………… I thought he would’! ‘That’s as good as you’ll ever see”
The round 10 game 1984 when Gubby Allen kicked cross goal to Phillips and Beasley intercepted, and Jock Edmond telling Allen it may not have been a wise decision.
    Footscray and our Halcion minutes!

Roos kicked a goal in the dying seconds of a match at Princes Park to get the Roys over the line. Perty, playing for the Pies, had kicked the previous goal, to put the Pies up.

My car overheated on the way home so I had to pull over. It meant I spent 20 minutes waving to all the Roys supporters driving past and ignore the one finger salutes from you know who.

One of the best days of football for me in 1990 since I saw the Dogs win the Grand Final.
Such a long time between drinks of course and the Pies went on to win the Grand Final, of course, while the Bulldogs languished once again. So I will own up the ugly bit but I won’t gloat just yet after our last couple of wins against the Pies.
I was at that match in 1990 and in those carefree days of friendly doormen, I ended up in the Footscray changerooms mingling with my heroes such as Doug Hawkins and a young Leon Cameron.
Yesterday’s match was one of the Dog’s best and apart from the first minute, they never looked like losing.

    Ahh, 1990.
Happy to be taken back there.
    Well played Dogs.

I’m not a fan of either club, but I got taken to that game in 1990. I remember walking across the MCG after the game and being shocked by the standard of the surface – it was a horrible mixture of sand and clay. Great work by Kolyniuk just to stand up, let alone baulk the man who finished second in that year’s Brownlow Medal.

  6. The elimination final in 2006. Brilliant performance in by definition a key match. It’s probably the only final they’ve ever won since 1961 where they weren’t ‘supposed’ to win.

  7. Its the 1979 GF and Wayne Harmes belts the ball back into play from a few yards outside of the boundary and Sheldon kicks the goal, Carlton win.
