Came across this article in hard copy last weekend. It’s a familiar tale, but one that never gets old.

Very nice Swish. Love that my old club, the Kapunda Bombers is among the world’s oldest, playing under its original name.
I’m happy to be proven wrong, but proud country boy that I am, wonder if the Barossa, Gawler and Light, strong association that it is, hasn’t slightly underachieved in terms of producing quality AFL talent.
I compare it to SA’s West Coast and tiny places like Kimba- Enright and the Wakelins twins, Arno Bay- Shaun Rehn, Wudinna- David Hynes, and find the Barossa comes second. Why is that? Too much shiraz?
Mickey
Thought of you Mickey as soon as I saw this.
Very farsighted Kapunda were, was Bomber even a word in the 1860s?
Not many reasons to stay on the West Coast, not too many reasons to leave the Barossa?
Apparently the Kapunda Hoverboards had already been claimed!
Interesting that Tanunda now have two Westhoff brothers playing, having both turned their backs on the SANFL.
Thanks for this , Swish sport is so important for so many reasons , a good country article although the comment country v metro is debatable more the point is sport overall is the lifeblood of the community in so many ways
