Australia v West Indies – Hobart Test: Call for writers

And so summer (part 2) begins in Hobart Town. Test cricket is back in Hobart.

West Indies, or at least those players who choose to represent the West Indies, will play Australia in Hobart. Bellerive is a suburb removed from central Hobart. But anyway, that’s the venue. I wonder how crowd figures would look at a more accessible ground, such as the Tasmanian Cricket Association (TCA) Ground or even North Hobart Oval.

We’re looking to publish your words about the game.

Be a sportswriter. Are you there? Watching on TV? Listening or following via the web?

Whatever, it would be great to share your ‘observations.’

Here’s a loose schedule to ensure we cover every day. Please nominate…

Day 1, Thursday 10 Dec: Citrus Bob & maybe DJ Wilson

Day 2, Friday 11 Dec: Citrus Bob & maybe Smokie

About David Wilson

David Wilson is a writer, editor, flood forecaster and former school teacher. He writes under the name “E.regnans” at The Footy Almanac and has stories in several books. One of his stories was judged as a finalist in the Tasmanian Writers’ Prize 2021. He shares the care of two daughters and a dog, Pip. He finds playing the guitar a little tricky, but seems to have found a kindred instrument with the ukulele. Favourite tree: Eucalyptus regnans.

  1. Citrus Bob UTBER says

Will add an extra one to the crowd for the first 2 days ER but will need to purchase some thermals in Hobart Town before play begins.
Could this be the last test in Bellerive the home of the mighty Clarence footy team?
    It,s not looking good.

  2. Great to learn, Citrus.
Interested to know what you make of the ground and conditions. Very windy in Hobart today (and a lot of days).
A cabbie there once told me of the uneasy island sporting truce that has Hobart home to Tassie cricket, and Launceston home to Tassie footy.
I wonder if that’s in danger of failing.

  3. Are we even bothering booking a reviewer for Day 5?

  4. Ahh – up to you, Sean.

Imagine a difficult run chase on Day 5.
    It’s possible.
