Almanac Teams: Players who were drafted/traded to a new club but didn’t play a game

Essendon’s Tim Watson [Source: Author]

With trade week on at the moment I have done sides on players that were drafted and traded to a club but never played a game there. This week’s side is based on players that were drafted/traded to a club after playing an AFL game but did not play a game for that club.

The draft started in 1986 however there was an interstate draft held in 1981 and 1982.

  1. Matt Zurbo says

You are the best Rodney! I’m grateful for every team you put up. Keep ’em coming!

  2. That’s a young Timmy Watson.
Well-researched again Rodney. Some players are just unlucky like Darren Whieldon being hit by a taxi in King Street.

  3. Mark 'Swish' Schwerdt says

That’s an amazing piece of research Rodney. So many forgotten names in that lot.

    Well played.

  4. Thank you very much Matt, Dan and Mark for your kind words. It means a lot as I really enjoy doing the research.

  5. Luke Reynolds says

Imagine using a draft pick now on someone who has no intention of playing at all!

  6. Cheers Luke I think that is why you have to nominate now.
