Almanac Racing – Stakes Day

You can drown in form this week or, like me, take the weak option and mostly stay out.

Not sure of my strategy tomorrow.

The weather’s hot and windy today and the track must be bitumen. Any serious punter must wait to see what pattern unfolds.

As has become customary in recent years the Final Day is a beauty – even a dearth of WFA horses and the best of them (Winx, Hartnell…) absent doesn’t detract from the Club’s attempts to regenerate the old L.K.S. Fascinating race. I worry about horses knocking up from recent runs on hard tracks so prefer the rested Scottish to beat The United States.

His stablemate, Francis Of Assisi, probably wins the earlier QE Stakes to stamp Charlie Appleby as the outstanding trainer of the Spring.

The Group One sprint has a host of chances. If, as Mick Price insists, Lankan Rupee is back to his best, then he’s probably the one to beat. I’m with Our Boy Malachi although, if “under the roses” is the only place to be, watch for Malaguerra.

Best:- MR4 No9; MR7 No7; MR8 No6.

Good luck!

Comments

  1. As is your custom, Scottish now scratched.

  2. Another collect!

  3. Crio, here’s a re investment plan I’ve been on fire this week so maybe it’s not the time to get on board but here goes:
I think front runners will be advantaged today so:
    Race 5 Coronation Shallan
    Race 7 Good Standing
Race 8 Speith, I’d like to see Lankan Rupee have another run
Race 9 Lord Aspen was arrogant winning in Adelaide and should go on with it.
In Adelaide try all up Herenoa in the 6th into Royal Rumble in the 7th

  4. Great get with Lord Aspen Jock. Missed it going off so stayed out. Filthy result on course. Fav stinky.
