Almanac (Pure) Art: Badly Drawn Rugby League’s ‘Nev Hornery (with Brian Davies)’

I don’t know who Badly Drawn Rugby League is but I spotted him (?) on Twitter and I immediately though, “This is art.”  Here’s his Twitter handle:  https://twitter.com/BadlyDrawnRL

I requested Badly do a drawing of Nev Hornery and he was out of the blocks like Larry Corowa.

Nev Hornery was the ultimate utility – lock, second row, five eighth. He could even pot a field goal. He played for Wynnum-Manly, my team in the BRL, in the `70s, before Wynnum opened the cheque book and snagged all those Origin players.

You can read a fine article about Nev Hornery from the QRL website HERE.

Brian Davies played at Brothers and a couple of Sydney clubs. He was a regular member of the Australian team in the 1950s. Read more about Brian HERE.

Visual art (whether it be painting, drawing, sculpture, design, whatever) and sport is almost invariably an interesting combination – good to be reminded of this, JTH. Thanks.
