Young Björn Encounters Sigrid
In every Swedish
adolescent rite-of-passage movie,
there’s a blonde busty passionate Amazon,
in her middle twenties,
who startles the virginal teen male lead
by taking off all of her clothes.
She tenderly strips the young man nude
then instructs him, slowly, in the act of love.
Nothing like this ever happened in my Australian boyhood.

Kevin Densley is a graduate of both Deakin University and The University of Melbourne. He has taught writing and literature in numerous Victorian universities and TAFES. He is a poet and writer-in-general. His sixth book-length poetry collection, Isle Full of Noises, was published in early 2026 by Ginninderra Press.
