Almanac Music: The Music of New Orleans – The Neville Brothers
Col Ritchie continues his introduction to the music of New Orleans with the acts he has had the pleasure of seeing perform live. This week it is the fabulous, The Neville Brothers.
The Neville Brothers ( Art (1937–2019), Charles (1938–2018), Aaron (b. 1941), and Cyril (b. 1948) had been a mainstay of New Orleans music over many years. Their funky RnB sound is readily identifiable as one of the many in the melting pot of New Orleans sounds. The video below is from their performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival of 2008, the first time the brothers had performed together since Hurricane Katrina. For many years, the closing spot at Jazz Fest was reserved for The Neville Brothers until that accolade was handed over to Trombone Shorty.

Good stuff, Col – music such as this adds a pleasing dimension to The Footy Almanac Tuesday! I’m just imagining many Almanackers grooving along to the funky beat!
