Almanac music: Stereo Stories Live next Saturday

Stereo Stories continues its advance across western civilisation – well, across the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Our Sunshine Library performance next Saturday afternoon, 12 September, will be an intimate one-hour show of music and memoir. Four writers, four musicians. Eight stories.

The Stereo Stories Band for this gig is Peter Maskell (vocals and guitars), Anthony Shortte (vocals and percussion), Julie Merritt (vocals) and Salvatore Romita (piano accordion).

The Footy Almanac will once again be well represented. Vin Maskell will be MCing and reading stories by Smokie Dawson and Rick Kane, as well as one of his own pieces.

Kerrie Soraghan will be making a very welcome return to the Stereo Stories stage, reading a tribute to her father, with references to Steely Dan, Neil Diamond and Joni Mitchell. Kerrie, a rather keen Doggies fan, reckons the gig will be a good way to calm pre-elimination-finals nerves.

Lucia Nardo’s moving story about her father’s devotion to his wife and to music will feature her father Salvatore on piano accordion.

Rijn Collins will be taking us to Germany (via Nick Cave) and to Jackson (via Johnny Cash and June Carter).

Hope to see you there.

Stereo Stories Live @ Sunshine Library Saturday 12 September, 2pm to 3pm

Entry is free but please book.

The gig is part of the Brimbank Writers & Readres Festival.
