Almanac Music: I See Hawks in L.A.
I See Hawks In L.A. is an alt country group from Los Angeles, California founded in 1999 by Rob Waller and brothers Paul and Anthony Lacques. Dave Alvin calls them “One of California’s unique treasures” while MOJO magazine suggests they “The finest country rock band on the planet.” High praise indeed.
I first came across them, as I always do when I find new music, by Brian Wise on his Off The Record program on 3RRR a few months ago. I’m bit of a sucker for that acoustic, twangy alt country/Americana sound and I fell in love with them. Thankfully you can hear them on Spotify etc and there are many clips of them performing on You Tube. Check them out below.
I See Hawks In L.A. have released a new album called, ‘On Our Way’. Check out the clip of the title song.
