Almanac Music: a swim in the Yarra, gunshots at the Dakota

Where were you when you heard that John Lennon had been shot?

Stephen Andrew, a prolific writer of Stereo Stories, was having a swim in the Yarra at Warrandyte on that day 35 years ago:

Word comes from a car radio in the riverside car park
Calling out, surreal, to nobody
“John Lennon
has been shot”.

Injured by the gun blasts
I scramble home and crouch in my room
Eighteen years old and as tiny as a child

Visit our partner site Stereo Stories for the full story (well, poem).

Also, Kath Presdee’s recent piece about Step In Step Out by Weddings Parties Anything is proving very popular, courtesy of Mick Thomas posting it on his Facebook page. Thanks Mick.
