Hi Sportsfans
The Adelaide Test is upon us, starting Friday.
It’s a day-night Test, the only benefit of which is that lunch becomes a very good option.
We will have about 20 revellers for lunch.
This lunch will be in a North Adelaide pub; I will let you know which pub on Friday.
The pub is The Wellington Hotel, Wellington Square, North Adelaide
It will be very informal. We’ll be eating off the menu as if we will be garden-variety patrons.
If you would definitely like to come on Sunday, December 8, or even if you’re likely to come, please let me know with a text message [email protected]
Or, send me a text 0417 635030.

would love to lunch on Sunday week, however I will be back in Brisbane (national schools athletics) that weekend – have a SUPERB time, one and all!!
Alas my gmail has taken exception to that e-mail address, so my response is reproduced below…
G’day John,
Having resumed my SACA membership despite remaining resident in Hobart, I’ll be at the Test – and, family commitments permitting, available for selection in the Almanac lunch team for day 3.
Hope to see you there
How was it?
Excellent thanks Swish. Yes, it was informal. We were later joined by Bernard Whimpress’s ASSH party from nearby.
The Welly staff were very friendly and looked after it. Very good pub fare.
A few left-fielders. Good to see Rats (Michael Rattenbury down from the Sunshine Coast), Mark Duffett from Tassie, and Geoff Lemon who brings a freshness to the coverage of cricket.
Citrus Bob might pen a few words about the book-off between Rulebook, Bernard and himself.
