Almanac (Local) Footy: Ainslie Women’s Division 2 – Round 4
Another thrashing, I fretted;
usually Belconnen are better.
But the margin was slim
(one goal from the win)
heartbroken, we lost as expected.
When these teams met last season, Belconnen won 4.16-40 to Ainslie’s 0.0-0.
Still chasing their first win in over a year and down 10 points at half time, Ainslie fought back to hold Belconnen scoreless in the second half. However, their single scoring shot in the last quarter was wayward and they didn’t get another chance.
Despite coming agonisingly close to a momentous win, Ainslie had lost again.
Ainslie Tricolours | 1.2 | 1.3 | 2.3 | 2.4 – 16 |
Belconnen Magpies | 1.1 | 3.1 | 3.1 | 3.1 – 19 |

Great photos and accompanying poem, Declan.
I had an involvement with the local footy when I lived in Canberra in another lifetime and always enjoyed games at Alan Ray Oval.
I’m sure that elusive win for the Tricolour ladies is just around the corner.
Thanks, Pete, I really appreciate it!
