Almanac (Local) Footy: Ainslie Women’s Division 2 – Round 1

Round 1

Division 2 Ainslie Women
haven’t been doing much winning.
But with some recruitment,
and some improvement,
this year’s a fresh beginning.

It’s been a tough trot lately for the Ainslie girls. They went winless last year in a shortened season, and when they lined up on Saturday against last year’s grand finalists it had been 686 days since they’d won a match.

Ainslie took an early lead on the back of ferocious tackling pressure, staunch defensive work and some swift counterattacks. While they faded in the second half, the outlook for their season is feeling positive after that Round 1 performance.

Ainslie Tricolours         2.0   3.2  3.2    3.2-20

Queanbeyan Tigers       1.0   3.2  5.5     6.6-42
