What a wonderful day for Bridget Schwerdt, and the whole Schwerdt family, when Bridget graduated with a Masters of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing from the University of Melbourne. Huge congratulations from everyone here at the Almanac.
We loved having Bridget as an intern. She was a wonderful contributor as both a writer and an editor. Of course she is remembered in Almanac circles (partly thanks to her Dad) as Pie-girl after writing some classic accounts of her time selling Four’n’Twenty pies at the MCG. One of those accounts featured as a foreword in an edition of The Footy Almanac. It’s an Almanac Classic:

Well done to all the Schwerdts. I look forward to hearing about Bridget’s next steps!
It takes a baker, an oven, a wheat farmer, butcher and miller (honourable mention to the meat) to raise a tasty and fulfilling pie. Congratulations to all concerned – another Royal Show blue ribbon winner from the Schwerdt family. (The lolly man would be proud – I remember him as a real gent).
Thank you for your kind words John, Mickey and Peter – I certainly wouldn’t be the writer I am today without my early experiences with the Almanac community, and the encouragement of this old guy (I think his name was Swash? Or was it Swell? Maybe Swish?), who helped set up that fateful week of work experience back in 2015.
Watch this space for a much-belated update on the adventures of Pie Girl.
Well done Bridget. Look forward to reading more of your work.
Hey think here Swish, the apple rarely falls far from the tree.

Another great Christmas story.
Well done Bridget.
Well played, Pie Girl.
Surprised/not-surprised.
Congratulations BPG Schwerdt.
You have that x-factor.
Great work Bridget, well deserved!!
On behalf of Bridget, who is just waking up in the Big Apple as I type, thanks for your kind comments RDL, Dips, Smokie, Dave and Luke.
