A fair few blokes there I wouldn’t be taking the Michelle out of, about their name or anything else.

Shouldnt any team of sheilas consist entirely of wingmen and half forward flanker recievers?
Clever team, although I doubt if there were any women in Australia named Britt when Con was playing.
Nice one Rick !
Jack Regan at Fullback, Craig Kelly at CHB, Jack Murphy in the Centre, Tony Francis as rover and some bloke called Bernie Shannon on the bench. All Magpies.
Already have a Kelly, Regan yes, Shannon yes, never heard of Murphy as a first name for any real-life female personage, Francis needs a sex-change, but overall thanks for your contribution Phil
And thanks for refraining from nominating Brian or Mick Taylor. Even Regan was borderline but Bill Shakespeare (no less) nudged him/her over the line, just…..
Surely Daniel CHICK gets a universal guernsey. My advancing years mean I call everyone luv or mate. So……
Where’s Robert Shirley? Surely with such an Australian name as that, he gets a game (how many here have a relative named Shirl?)
“Where’s Robert Shirley? Surely with such an Australian name as that, he gets a game (how many here have a relative named Shirl?)”
“surely you can’t be serious? I am, and don’t call me Shirley!” with thanks to Airplane/Flying High.
With the 1st Test between Australia and India commencing this Friday, it got me thinking of doing a World XI cricket team where the surname of each player can be a girl’s first name. It doesn’t matter if the spelling is incorrect, as long as it sounds the same. The surname can only be used once. It also doesn’t matter if the female first name can also be used a male first name. The players don’t have to have played Test cricket. Big Bash or first class cricket is enough.
Here is the World XI cricket team of surnames with a girl’s first name:
Chris Gayle
Mark Taylor (c)
Brian Lara
Chris Lynn (wk)
Thomas Kelly (SA/Adelaide Strikers)
W.G.Grace
Clive Rose (Vic/Tas/Melbourne Stars/Hobart Hurricanes)
Joel Paris (WA/Perth Scorchers/Hobart Hurricanes)
Tim May
Dennis Lillee
Riley Meredith (Tas/Hobart Hurricanes)
This team can play an exhibition Twenty 20 match against the Melbourne Stars.
Entertainment will be provided by songs from Bill Haley.
Transport will be by Mercedes.
After match meal will be from Wendy’s.
Let’s hope for a good game of cricket, where the players can make a name for themselves.
I forgot to mention that the venue for the exhibition match will be in Port Elizabeth.
