Almanac (Footy) Poetry – Fluoro Boots

Fluoro Boots

He wore fluoro boots to get their attention
so journos and umpires would give him a mention.

But little he thought that they would stand out
when the Match Review Officer was prowling about.

There were his bright orange boots in the scene
when the player went down, though his face wasn’t seen.

Michael Christian then looked and he had no doubt
that the wearer of those fluoro boots would be out.

Rather than catching the umps eye for the Brownlow
He was cited, and rubbed out for his errant elbow.

His face and his number were not seen in the frame
It was his lairy boots that got him the blame.
