It was a horrible weekend for footy so I stayed home.

 

In the TV game at Bassendean, Perth scored six of the first seven goals and then the home team steadied. The Demons were close enough at three quarter time and kicking with the breeze but went for a thoroughly modern empty forward line approach. It didn’t work. There was a good battle in the ruck between Matthew Germs (Swans) and Dakota Baldwin-Wright (Demons) while Aidan Clarke loved the wet and Tom Edwards kicked four goals.

 

East Perth took a while to shake off the improved West Coast who had another no-goal last quarter. Hamish Brayshaw again made the famous Royals no 22 jumper proud.

 

The Bulldogs burst back into calculations while the Tigers went bust at Claremont Oval scoring a dismal 3.3. Steven Verrier has slipped nicely back into football adding strength to the South Fremantle midfield.

 

East Fremantle kicked four goals before the really bad weather arrived at Leederville Oval and that proved pretty valuable. Blaine Boekhurst had another brilliant game.

 

In the thriller of the round at Joondalup Peel had their noses in front for most of the day until a bit of soggy soccer work from Anton Hamp put West Perth ahead. Tyler Keitel kicked three goals for the Falcons while Heath Chapman made an impressive return to football for the Thunder against his old team.
