Almanac Cricket – A view of Australia from fine leg: Match 2 – Lake Albert Cricket Club

“The Cricketer”
by Kate Birrell

For the second match of my crazy cricketing adventure playing for 10 different cricket clubs across Australia in the one unique cricket season, while raising funds for Mental Health Foundation Gotcha4Life, I strapped on the pads for Lake Albert Cricket Club in Wagga Wagga recently.

A remarkable country cricket club that has seen Test Cricket greats Geoff Lawson, Michael Slater and Mark Taylor pull on the whites. Also, the club where I started playing as a 10 year old and a place of many memories.

A fantastic day (if you exclude my stint at the crease) and over $500 raised for charity.

If you are interested in following the adventure, please have a read of my piece on the match at my blog via the following link:

A big thank you to the Almanac Family for all their support and best wishes with the project.

Game 3 this weekend at Payneham Cricket Club in Adelaide – fingers crossed for an Adelaide Oval Day 3 belter of a deck!
