I bring it to your attention as a curiosity, but also in the off chance that someone might be interested. Matt Zurbo?

According to the coach’s number, it’s Kadina. Not so sure about its advertised proximity to the Metro area.
Kadina is reasonably close in SA terms. Anniversary celebrations must be over!
Kadina is close enough to Adelaide, but an away trip to play the Southern Eagles at Warooka in mid-winter is another thing!
Potential recruits also need to ask themselves ‘Am I really the kind of person that wants to play for a mob like Kadina?’.
If they are a half-decent person they would be better off saving their soul and going another 10 miles down the road to Moonta. The Cousin Jacks have the 2022 flag hanging in their premiership window!
As a graduate of Kadina “Memorial” High School I’ll hear no more of this trash talk. Kadina locals put their money into a tiled school roof rather than a war memorial. ‘Nuff said.
Dad played in A and B grade cricket premierships at Kadina in the early ’70’s. Still going strong with 90 off the stick at age 91 in the Wednesday comp last week at Aston Hills (Mt Barker) golf club. Third time he’s bettered his age on the golf course – a rare feat.
There were separate North and South Yorke Peninsula football and cricket leagues in the early 1970’s when we were there. Northern league extended down to Maitland – so an hour’s drive maximum for games.
90 at 91. That is a great get.
Is renumeration a South Australian word and does it relate to money .
Asking for a ruckman friend from Victoria.
Ah, Peter_B! I thought that surely there must have been one decent bloke to come out of Kadina and here he is! With your dad that makes two. After that the pickings get a bit slim.
I will accept that given I butted heads repeatedly with Kadina on the footy and cricket fields through the 80’s I may just be a touch biased ….
As a young opener playing in the A’s against Kadina I once received a delivery from one of their quicks that pitched in my half of the wicket, I was that surprised that I ended up just patting it back down the pitch to the bowler. Normal service resumed shortly thereafter.
I was also lucky enough to play my footy before the leagues merged, with wind-swept Ardrossan being our furtherest trip south.
Possible bias aside, Kadina did always have a top class footy/netball/basketball complex, with the oval having the same dimensions as the old footy park (and being about as welcoming to the opposition). They have had some ex-SANFL players and Port Magpie top-up players on the list in recent years so they probably do have the quality midfield they speak of.
They were one of those towns whose premiership window (in all sports) always seemed open. Probably why we hated them!
Hayden, I took ‘Top renumeration’ to mean that the successful applicant would automatically be given the No.1 guernsey.
Cheers John, a billion years too late! (Damn, I’d love to have played in S.A., too!). Otway again for me this year!
I reckon there’s a handy ruckman down the road at Ardrossan, if Sauce Jacobs is still running around for them. And ‘superior facilities’ used to mean there was sometimes hot water in the showers.
