Almanac (AFL) Poetry: What Wins September

There is mayhem in p.

When the player breaks free,

The ball bounces with glee.

Because p = mv.

The invisible hand.

Upturns all the plans.

From one it will flee.

Because p = mv.

The score shall turn quick.

The game change is too slick,

The coach all at sea.

Because p = mv.

One of nature’s great forces.

Like mighty water courses,

Cuts a swathe through what be.

Because p = mv.

What mystery is this?

It comes forth from the mist,

And does rust our game key.

Because p = mv.

Man seeks it and speaks of it.

And chases its great wit,

How to be on its lee.

This p = mv.

Teams kneel at her alter.

And both love her and fault her.

What beauty has she.

This p = mv.

Winter grass does go green.

Many-a September has seen,

The power of thee.

This p = mv.
