Finals Week 1 – The (insert names here) Cups
To give this week’s finals some real meaning, other than the misapprehension that the winning is an end in itself, I’ve decided to commission some silverware to be awarded to the victors of each of the four matches being played this (early starting) weekend.
I’ve gone with the idea of naming each prize after prominent players that have treacherously swapped between proudly represented both clubs, combined with an object for which they are best known.
Here’s what I’ve come up with.
Adelaide v Greater Western Sydney – The Phil Davis Diving Board
Geelong v Richmond – The Brad Ottens Garden Stake
Sydney v Essendon – The Ted Richards Credit Foncier Calculator
Port Adelaide v West Coast – The Brayden Lyle Last Man Draft Stopper
I’m not going to the engravers until tomorrow afternoon, so let me know if you think of something more appropriate for these awards.
