The Youthful, Secret, Utterly Fanciful Desire to Have Sex with the Long Dead Female Subject of a Literary Biography

I could have saved her life.
She wouldn’t have died of TB
if I was on the scene.
I’d have taken her to a sunny clime
much earlier
and nursed her back to robust health.
With me, she would have blossomed;
Miss Socially Stunted, Inhibited
who only expressed her passion
through the written word
would not have been.
I’m sure we’d have enjoyed
wild, wonderful sex.
With my support, she could have fulfilled
her every talent and dream.

Yeah, right.

    Thank you, Dips – I mean, Major Nelson, for your response.
