WAFL – Round 15: Tigers keep winning – even far from home

It was a thriller way up north in Kunnunurra with top team Claremont holding on to beat East Fremantle by three points. Jake Murphy and Jack Bradshaw each kicked three goals for the Tigers and Mark Seaby had another good game in the ruck. Ryan Lester-Smith kicked five goals for the Shark and Brett Peake had his best game for the season.

Claremont 15.8 (98) East Fremantle 13.17 (95)

Perth got over the top of a plucky South Fremantle to record an important win. Brennan Stack kicked four goals for the Demons and Matthew Moody had another good game. Paul Mugambwa kicked three goals in a strong effort for the Bulldogs and Timothy Kelly showed promise for the future.

Perth 16.17 (113) South Fremantle 16.7 (103)

It was tight early at Leederville Oval then East Perth ran away with the game. Scott Lycett (three goals) and Paul Johnson controlled the ruck and were dangerous in attack, while Kyle Anderson and Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls impressed in defence. Matt Orzel kicked two goals and tried hard for Peel.

East Perth 20.17 (137) Peel 7.4 (46)

It was tight all day at Bassendean with West Perth consolidating second spot with a thrilling victory. Matt Pettigrew enjoyed a move forward and kicked three goals for the Falcons, Laine Rasmussen had his best game of the year and Steven Browne was important when it mattered. Swans kicked horribly all day – Matt Riggio was good in the midfield and Jamie Bennell was creative.
