The Red and the White: Getting it done!

Well, what a great game from Macca. Along with Dane Rampe, they held it together down back under a constant barrage. It was another game where both sides missed opportunities and gifted turnovers, though on the whole a thrilling and entertaining match to watch. We lost most of the vital statistical measures, except for free kicks (must be still trying to make up for the 2016 GF), but we got it done and got the points.

Parks was outstanding, ably supported by the constantly improving Isaac Heeney…what a player. Cal Sinclair is doing a great job in the ruck and is gaining in composure as each week passes. His right hand man Dean Towers is looking evermore comfortable in his skin too, knowing he is a first choice player now. Nice mark and goal from Deano when needed in the final quarter.

You’d probably say Bud had a quieter game, though he could easily have kicked 5 or 6 goals. I think the forward line is a work in progress with Reid out. Aliir might be needed down back next week to combat the Crows’ taller forward line. Do we go with Cameron perhaps?

When the Doggies get some talls back they will be a very good team, so it was an important win to have chalked up. What about young Dunkley? He is a good player, great hands like his dad Andrew and he can get the ball…he just can’t kick, like Andrew! I believe that was the key reason we passed on him, though he was keen to stay in Melbourne. How will it balance out overall? The Dogs are in front, as Josh was part of their 2016 Premiership. Instead we got two classy left footers, Leonidis and Dawson. One is now gone and the other has only played the one game so far. By all accounts Dawson will be good. Let’s see.

About Keiran Croker

Keiran is a lifelong Swans supporter, despite a brief dalliance with the Cats and Tigers in primary school years. Family connections to Port Melbourne and South Melbourne demanded loyalty to the Swans. The long wait for success was worth it.

  1. Not sure there’s much more to comment on, Keiran. You’ve pretty much covered it. Let’s just hope Sinclair stays in good form and remains healthy!

I imagine Adelaide will come our firing this week, especially after their unexpected loss last weekend.

    Cheer cheer
