The Great Debate. The path to enlightenment: sport or art?

Open late: Neighbourhood night at the museum

Words, Music, Art, and Sport, Wednesday 12 Nov 2014, 5.00- 7.00pm

John Harms, Tony Wilson and more…..

The Potter invites you to an evening of music, words, art and culture for local residents and beyond. The night will kick off with the ‘great debate’ where the question that philosophers, critics and punters have pondered over for centuries will be fought out, The path to enlightenment: is it sport or art?

Conducted in the tradition of all great public discussions on matters of importance, two sides of opposing thinkers will argue it out before an audience who will ultimately decide on who has presented the most logical and compelling argument. Featuring well known fans of sport and art, John Harms, Tony Wilson, Justin Heazlewood (aka The Bedroom Philosopher), Alicia Sometimes and Robert Nelson to name a few, in a light-hearted and humorous great debate.

Come along and explore the whole museum with four very different exhibitions presented at this special after-hours viewing. Embracing research, discovery and debate, the Potter exhibits art from antiquity to the present. We display art from the University Art Collection, as well as from public and private collections from around Australia and the world.
