AFLW Round 6 – Triple Header and Masters of the World

Yvette Wroby writes of her three games at Docklands on Saturday. Of Masters and AFLW players, supporters and connections. Of taking it all in amongst friends.

AFLW Round 1 – Geelong v Collingwood: ‘I tawt I taw a puddy tat’

Yvette Wroby makes a weekend of the first round of footy in Geelong. And enjoys a ripper of a game with her Almanac mates.

Round 20 – St Kilda v Western Bulldogs: It’s a long season when you suck

‘It’s a long season when you suck’ writes Yvette Wroby. Saints fans (and team it seems) are now longing for an end of season lie down with a nice cuppa. The Southern Saints were the highlight of the weekend.

South East Women’s Football League Division 1 – St Kilda Sharks v Cranbourne: Bodies on the Line Part 2

Yvette Wroby finally catches her second game of the season of her beloved St Kilda Sharks. The Sharks got flogged, and player Rachel hurt her knee. Yvette found a place being a supporter of a different kind.

Round 7 – St Kilda v Melbourne: Wins, losses and life.

Yvette Wroby has an active footy weekend: Southern Saints VFLW practice at Moorabbin, Skybus Stadium Saturday morning, Frenken Homes Oval at Casey Fields Cranbourne Saturday afternoon to see the St Kilda Sharks, St Kilda Town Hall Sunday morning and watching her beloved Saints on Sunday afternoon. Babysitting Monday felt like a breeze!

AFLM Round 18 – Sydney Swans v St Kilda: Expected the very expected and stand with Pride

There’s a lot been happening in the world around the Round 18 Pride Game. Here is just a small glimpse of Yvette Wroby’s few weeks. The game was a bust but meeting Mikey Cole, getting hands on The Women’s Footy Almanac 2017 and having a photo shoot for the Sunday Age were the highlights. Yvette’s late Uncle Marcel would be proud.

Round 14: St Kilda v Gold Coast: So many points to be made

Yvette Wroby goes to the St Kilda heartland to watch the Sharks at Peanut Farm Reserve, then Etihad to see her Saints. All her red, white and black teams won. The points (masses of behinds for both teams) are puzzling to fans and commentators alike.

AFLM Round 8 – St Kilda v Carlton: Roller Coaster Rides

In what has been a truly wonderful week and the launch her memoir, ‘Siren’s Call’, Yvette Wroby is disappointed by poor behaviour of some of the men in her footy team. It reminds her of a 2012 cartoon she posted on the Almanac.

Launch of ‘Siren’s Call’ a great success

John Harms launched Yvette Wroby’s memoir ‘Siren’s Call’ at the St Kilda RSL on Thursday night and it was a blast. Lots of food, and people and footy players present. Yvette is still floating all through Friday. Now for a Saints win tomorrow and the week is perfect.

Yvette Wroby enjoyed a day watching St Kilda Sharks in the VFL Women’s semi, she felt part of a community, a part of the red, black and white football tribe.

Women’s Footy – VFL: Pepa Randall

Two years after beginning her Australian Rules career, Eastern Devils’ wildcard Pepa Randall is a balance between spontaneous and developing. Can the Western Bulldogs-listed player continue to learn the art of the game ahead of the 2017 national competition?

Round 11 – Adelaide v St Kilda: “Could we start again please?”

Yvette Wroby celebrated two victories on Sunday at Etihad Stadium. Good thing, because the news from Adelaide was far from happy.

Women’s Footy – VFL: Moana Hope

St Kilda Sharks’ champion Moana Hope talks being a leader, the pursuit of improvement and a new era for the Sharks as she prepares for her 200th game against Darebin in the VFL Women’s State League.

Round 22 – St Kilda v Sydney Swans: Zebras, Sharks and Saints

The pure joy of the postgame kick-to-kick — and the later gathering of the Saints’ faithful in the Victory Room — were likely the biggest positives to come out of a long Sunday at the footy for Yvette Wroby. And that just might be enough.
