AFLW – Pre-season: A rekindled passion for St Kilda

There’s world-weariness. And there’s even footy-weariness, when spirits are down. But Yvette Wroby is back. And it’s the Saints AFLW team and the Saints return to Moorabbin which have given her something to smile about, and write about, again. Here comes 2020. And more hope.

AFLW is over for 2019 – The ever-shifting universe and footy trajectories within it.

Yvette Wroby ponders a little about AFLW 2019 and is excited about the Saints entrance into the competition in 2020. Ready for the Southern Saints to resume in the VFLW, she is keeping an eye on her beloved boys in red, white and black too.

AFLW – Round 3: North Melbourne v Western Bulldogs: Jumping Like a Kangaroo, and that’s just me!

Yvette Wroby is in love with the red, white and black that lies beneath all this blue and white and red, white and blue malarkey. After this game, she took out a North AFLW membership and is on the Courtney Munn bandwagon. Two memberships, two teams. Now waiting for the 3rd to arrive.

AFLW Round 1 – Geelong v Collingwood: ‘I tawt I taw a puddy tat’

Yvette Wroby makes a weekend of the first round of footy in Geelong. And enjoys a ripper of a game with her Almanac mates.

AFLW 2019: It’s that time

Yvette Wroby prepares for the beginning of the AFLW 2019 season with an eye firmly on weather forecasts for Saturday Feb 2. She finds it weird to worry about the heat at a footy match. But she has much to look forward to.

VFLW: Southern Saints B&F showed great signs for the red, white and black.

Yvette Wroby attended the inaugural Southern Saints Best and Fairest at the beautiful new RSEA Park in Moorabbin and mingled with the stars of the future. Watch out for these names in the upcoming AFLW draft.

Round 20 – St Kilda v Western Bulldogs: It’s a long season when you suck

‘It’s a long season when you suck’ writes Yvette Wroby. Saints fans (and team it seems) are now longing for an end of season lie down with a nice cuppa. The Southern Saints were the highlight of the weekend.

Round 19 GWS v St Kilda : Yet another footy odyssey with too many losses in a row but great people shine some light and warmth.

Yvette Wroby has a weekend of footy losses and at least some diversions. A weekend in Creswick was a good relief from football. There’s always next week.

Round 17: St Kilda v Richmond- Not the upset Yoshi was hoping for

Footy loving Japanese correspondent Yoshi has been in town for a footy holiday and to attend his first ever AFL match. Although his Saints were disappointing, he has had a wonderful time here as his report indicates.

Round 18 – St Kilda v Richmond: A footy odyssey in four parts

Our Japanese correspondent Yoshi Imagawa kept Yvette Wroby busy on a recent visit. Between young and old Caulfield Bears, footy for men and women, and a good old North Fitzroy Arms Hotel catch up, it was a pretty good few days…sans any Saints wins.

Round 10 – Richmond v St Kilda Marvel: Land of superheroes and super villains.

Yvette Wroby takes herself to three games of footy last weekend, St Kilda v Richmond (loss), Southern Saints v Essendon (big win) and Sandringham Zebras v Werribee (big win). People and connections made this a wonderful weekend, and the new named partners of Docklands sent her report on a comic journey.

Round 9 – St Kilda v Collingwood: Almost mid-year report

Yvette Wroby remembers when report cards at school were simpler. She regresses to rating the last St Kilda game. There’s lots of A’s and E’s. And not much in between.

Round 8 – Fremantle v St Kilda: Ups and Downs

Yvette Wroby is running out of words for this season. Three images say it all for the St Kilda men’s team this year. All aboard. [Wonderful use of your beautiful art Yvette – Ed]

Round 7 – St Kilda v Melbourne: Wins, losses and life.

Yvette Wroby has an active footy weekend: Southern Saints VFLW practice at Moorabbin, Skybus Stadium Saturday morning, Frenken Homes Oval at Casey Fields Cranbourne Saturday afternoon to see the St Kilda Sharks, St Kilda Town Hall Sunday morning and watching her beloved Saints on Sunday afternoon. Babysitting Monday felt like a breeze!

VFLW Round 1 – Southern Saints v Carlton: The Blues get to sing

Dave H was on hand to see the Blues take on the Southern Saints and also witnessed a team spirit that the Blues have built from the AFLW through to VFLW.

SA Country Footy – North East FL: RSMU Hawks v Southern Saints (nice pics)

More excellent footy pics from Peter Argent who watched the Southern Saints play RSMU Hawks in the NEFL in the mid-north of South Australia. [nice little cricket story too – JTH]
