Round 7 – St Kilda v Melbourne: Wins, losses and life.

Yvette Wroby has an active footy weekend: Southern Saints VFLW practice at Moorabbin, Skybus Stadium Saturday morning, Frenken Homes Oval at Casey Fields Cranbourne Saturday afternoon to see the St Kilda Sharks, St Kilda Town Hall Sunday morning and watching her beloved Saints on Sunday afternoon. Babysitting Monday felt like a breeze!

Round 5 – St Kilda v GWS: It takes a village

A village helped Yvette Wroby get to the Saturday afternoon game. And the village of noisy Saints supporters helped the Saints get within a whisker of an upset to top of the table GWS.

Round 3 – St Kilda v Adelaide Crows: Fans, Entitlement and Expectation: Searching for some meaning in football life.

Yvette Wroby enjoys her grandson playing Auskick, and doesn’t enjoy her Saints playing the Crows. She also is struggling with entitlement, fandom and expectation. AND it’s only Round 3!

AFLM Round 22 – St Kilda v North Melbourne: It’s all about thanking Rooey

Sunday late afternoon it was all about Nick Riewoldt and his last home game with the Saints. Thankfully it was a great win. Yvette Wroby is ready for the tearful goodbye this Sunday.

AFLM Round 20 – St Kilda v West Coast Eagles: On the edge of our seats while stories keep coming

Yvette Wroby meets more story tellers and St Kilda fans as the Saints play for their retiring champion Nick Riewoldt. The Saints are still in this.

AFLM Round 17 – St Kilda v Essendon: When all is said and done

ABBA and Yvette Wroby’s extended family help her through a tough footy week, as well as the loss of her beloved Uncle Marcel. Her drafted grand-daughter Sienna and many Saints stories help lift her spirit. It’s the people in our lives who matter most and help heal the footy bruises.

AFLM Round 16 – St Kilda v Richmond: Happy Days are here again

Yvette Wroby and the St Kilda extended family have a wonderful night at the football, raising money for Maddie Riewoldts Vision and a smashing win over Richmond. It was a Saints game for the ages.

Round 14: St Kilda v Gold Coast: So many points to be made

Yvette Wroby goes to the St Kilda heartland to watch the Sharks at Peanut Farm Reserve, then Etihad to see her Saints. All her red, white and black teams won. The points (masses of behinds for both teams) are puzzling to fans and commentators alike.

AFLM: Round 13 – North Melbourne v St Kilda: Their team didn’t do very well Friday night

Yvette Wroby enjoyed a Saints win, a weekend away and the Williamstown Literary Festival. Three wins. Let’s hope the Saints get another win next weekend as well.

AFLM Round 8: Western Bulldogs v St Kilda: What Matters Most

Pre-game Yvette Wroby suspects she was suffering Premiership envy. Post-game, she was grateful for love and family, friendship and all things St Kilda. And byes.

The Swans: Can a lifetime of habit be changed?

Jan Courtin wonders if she can kick her 67-year habit of worrying about the Bloods, and whether their big win against the Saints will make it even more difficult!

AFLM Round 7 – St Kilda v GWS: And in the end, boy, did we prevail.

Yvette Wroby reports of the Saints second win in a row. She hasn’t been able to say that for awhile. A good night was had by those wearing red, white and black.

AFLM Round 5 – St Kilda v Geelong: In..In..In..Win for the Girls…In..In..In..Out for the Boys

Yvette Wroby sees the St Kilda Academy girls win their Anzac Day game, and wishes Tweety Birds (Saints boys) weren’t eaten by the Puddy Cats in the double header.

Round 5 – Western Bulldogs v Brisbane: How much is enough

A classic observation typifies this super piece from Damien O’Mahoney: “The game itself was like a You Am I gig from the early days. At the start I thought they might have turned up a bit too drunk to play. But the finish was mighty, everyone chipping in and working off each other to play like champions.”

AFLM Round 4 – Collingwood v St Kilda: Winning ugly has become our thing

Yvette Wroby reports on the sloppy encounter between the Saints and the Pies last weekend. But she’ll take that messy win every day.

AFLM Round 3 – St Kilda v Brisbane: Four points without the glory

Yvette Wroby took her time to absorb last Sunday’s game. How come a victory felt like something else? The highlight, as ever, was champion Nick Riewoldt’s return game.

Round 2 – Hawthorn v Adelaide: And footy won the day

Paddy relates the joy of being an Auskicker and relives the dream of the big stage but this time as an umpire officiating an Auskick game during the half-time interval at the MCG.

Round 1 – St Kilda v Melbourne: Happy and Sad

Yvette Wroby is happy (she also caught most of the AFLW Grand Final) and Yvette is sad (will Nick be OK?), but when she thought of Alison Lester’s children’s board book, she knew she could write her first season report.

AFL Pre-season – Richmond v Adelaide: Ruckman

Jack Banister felt the excitement as Richmond beat Adelaide. But as a true Tigers fan, he isn’t getting too sure of his team. He definitely wasn’t sure of Maric having the ball deep in defence and selling some candy.

Round 23 – West Coast Eagles v St Kilda : Saints safari descends into desolation in the wild wild west but the Best and Fairest has been determined.

Far more than a match report; Jen Muirden’s travel diaries take you through the UAE and culminate at the 2015 Trevor Barker Medal presentation at Crown. Highly recommended!
