2016: Officially the most boring home and away season in history**

The composition of the top 8 hasn’t changed since midway through Round 6 of 2016. Mike Hugo makes some historical comparisons and finds that this is the earliest in a season that this has occurred.

Round 22 – North Melbourne v Sydney: Clean Up Your Act, ‘Roos

Andrew Starkie avoided watching North Melbourne play Sydney by resorting to thoroughly cleaning his house. (More productive than the ‘Roos forwards – Ed.)

Round 21 – St Kilda v Sydney: Pride Match. Meaningful for clubs and good reminder for myself

Yoshi shares his rollercoaster evening in a Japanese pub, where he contemplated the future of his beloved Saints.

Round 21 – Richmond v Geelong: Automaton Cats …wait a minute!

Paul Spinks was worried about Geelong before Sunday’s clash with Richmond. Eventually the Cats got over the line, but the performance did nothing to allay his fears for his finals-bound side.

Round 20 – Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne: The Dogs of More

Tom Riordan never thought 2016 was going to be the year of the Dog, nor did he think the ‘Roos could go all the way. Thrilled with Saturday’s win, he’s sure that the only way is up for the ‘Dogs.

Round 19 – Collingwood v West Coast: Forty Glorious Minutes

Dave Nadel admits that before this season he overestimated both his beloved Magpies and their opponents last Saturday, West Coast. He does like the look of several young players on the Collingwood list, however, and thinks that both sides can look forward to improvement in 2017.

Round 16 – Port Adelaide v Hawthorn: Here be dragons

Cathryn McDonald goes with a George R.R Martin-esque description of her Port Adelaide Dothraki’s loss to the Lannister soldiers of Hawthorn.

Round 5 – Melbourne v Richmond: First outing to the G as a Melburnian

Nick Weidmann falls in with the steps of many, both with him and before him, in heading to the ‘G. “It was a good outing to the footy, hopefully the first of many as I now live in Melbourne.” [Welcome to Melbourne – Ed].

Round 2 – Collingwood v Richmond: An MCC debut to remember

Tom Riordan, Doggies supporter, breaks his duck at the MCC Members with a beauty.
