Rudolph makes a pre-Christmas appearance for the Seagulls

The Port Fairy Football Netball Club has appointed Sam Rudolph as its senior playing coach for the next two years. Sam is pretty keen to get the Seagulls off the bottom of the ladder and win a few games for a push towards the finals in the Hampden league in the new 10 team competition (Portland and Hamilton Kangaroos being the recent additions). This is pretty big coup for the Gulls who have struggled in recent years and it is hoped that Sam’s appointment, development of our juniors and selective recruiting will put the Gulls in good stead into the future.

Some of the stats about Sam include-

2002- Played in TAC Cup premiership for Eastern Ranges

2003- Played at Mount Gravatt (QLD) and represented QAFL at state level.

2004- 2006- Played 43 games for Box Hill Hawks

2007- 2011- Played 102 games for Glenelg in the SANFL. Represented SANFL in 2011 and 2012. Made the SANFL team of the year 2007, 2008 and 2012.

The club is pretty chuffed about obtaining Sam’s services for the next couple of seasons and can now start actively recruiting and formalising other coaching roles. It is hoped that last year’s coach Bernie Harris (ex- Fitzroy, Brisbane Bears and St Kilda) will assist Sam on the bench. The club is also hoping to appoint a playing assistant coach in the forthcoming weeks.

All in all, things are looking up at the moment.
