Round 7 – GWS v St Kilda: Once again realising being emotional

Greater Western Sydney versus St Kilda
Saturday 4 May 2019
1:45 pm
UNSW Canberra Oval

Having made a mistake to book a day off for the game. I have asked my employer a day off as Saturday 5 May. It should have been Saturday 4 May.

Then I missed an opportunity to watch the game live.

At my lunch break, I followed the game through ABC live radio coverage, but the Saints didn’t play well.

After my shift ended at 8 pm, I only learnt that the Saints lost two games in a row.

I wonder if we lost because I have created a curse or not? My wrong decision on kicking at IMPACT Anzac Day Cup against Merged Tokyo Club affects my boys’ performances?

Matt says “how it can be?” on the way back to Osaka last weekend. But I feel two mistakes left our opponents smiling.

Or is Matt right? Or am I not a relaxed person and do I worry a lot?

Or am I the Jeff Kennett of Kyoto?

Despite the loss, I have decided to watch the reply next day to analyse the game.

Having worked hard during the week (we are on a 10-day long weekend starting 27 April) and practised footy hard, I am tired a bit but come to Starbucks now.

Unfortunately watching the replay stopped at the first half of first quarter. It was too painful seeing the opponents scoring goals brilliantly. Their ball use was much better than ours and they contested better than the Saints.

I am not a calm person. I am living everyday with emotions. These are what I realise again now.

These spirits can be either negative or positive, but I am a crazy and passionate St Kilda supporter.

I love this great sport of Australian Rules Football so should watch games, but at the same time I am affected easily by surrounding environment in general.

Do you think I should watch the replay? Or do you think it is okay for me to be emotional?

After last weekend’s footy tournament, I practise running hard leading and jumping to be like Skunk (Tim Membrey).

He was good taking a chest mark and scoring a goal.

I want to do the same work as him at Shanghai Cup on 1 June. Then I want St Kilda to beat Port Adelaide following day.

About Yoshihiro Imagawa

Love, passion and pride are seen on the footy that is the biggest part of my life. 1. St Kilda Club member: I am a passionate and crazy Sainter. Just hope we will win the second flag soon, especially after Dogs and Tigers having ended long premiership draughts. 2. The Osaka Dingoes Player and Public Relations Officer: Player number 44 that I chose to honour Stephen Milne with my wish being like a small forward like him. Lenny Hayes' hardworking attitudes are adopted on my trainings and practices. Nick Riewoldt's great plays are in my player audiobook too. 3. Writing: Here on the Almanac and also on the World Footy News. My skills utilise on great footy websites.

  1. Lewis Costin says

    Hi Yoshi,

The 1st qtr was the worst. We got back to playing well after the 1st qtr but we are simply short on key position players. We are going ok around the ground but need a tall making forward and some strong defenders.

Also GWS are a great side and could win the flag this year.

Dont fear, we are not too far off.

    Go Saints!

  2. G’day Lewis,

I felt so much pain watching the replay of first quarter. That’s why I didn’t watch the whole lost game…

In my perception, we need to improve ball uses. Membrey is the fun, Bruce kicks good goals and Parker is a matured good forward. Just don’t waste opportunities.

Defense line needs to be tough while Geary and Carlisle are sidelined. But Wilkie is another good matured player.

    Cheers and go Saints!

    Yoshi
