Super Moon –
closer to us
than the flag
on the cusp of spring
we fall just outside
the eight
afternoon glare
the coach gives the players
a blast
unsystemagpies
swirling breeze
the inconsistency
of umpires
anticipating
Cloke’s missed shot
still spilling the beer
signs of Spring
Collingwood loses
a must win game
final quarter
nothing working
my last painkiller
a patch of sunlight
looking for positives
in the loss

About rob scott
Rob Scott (aka Haiku Bob) is a peripatetic haiku poet who calls Victoria Park home. He writes haiku in between teaching whisky and drinking English, or something like that.
“swirling breeze / the inconsistency / of umpires” what was blowing in the wind over there? Reminded me of the old Vic Park home ground advantage. We were smashed, but it was a 6-goal loss, not 10.
Lovely work as per usual HB; are there any links to your non-football works anywhere on the web. Would love to take a look.
