deep winter
officially now
in a slump
cold winter dusk
the spark in the midfield
gone
winter clouds
in their huddles
players and gulls
squeezing between
two dead branches
Dangerfield
thin ice
we grab the lead
for less than a minute
bats circling
the losing run
continues
crescent moon
our finals hopes
hang by a thread
contemplating the loss
my reflection
in the hearse
About rob scott
Rob Scott (aka Haiku Bob) is a peripatetic haiku poet who calls Victoria Park home. He writes haiku in between teaching whisky and drinking English, or something like that.

Do you think we could apologize to Chris Dawes and Heath Shaw and maybe Dids and ask them to come home? Perhaps Maxie could ‘un-retire’ and just stand at centre half back to organize the young boys in defense; he wouldn’t need to run or anything.
