I don’t know why I did this, or for who. Maybe me. Maybe just because.
Because it was true, and I like stories.
Leo somehow got a copy and my number. Hell, it was a while ago. For all I
know I sent one to Sydney. I got home after dark from a hard day in the
mountains, knackered, filthy, to find a message on the answering machine. It
was Barry. He thanked me lots for the piece and left his mobile number for
me to call.
Far out.
I rang it and got his message bank and said:
“Hi, Leo, this is Matt. I just wanted to say thanks very much for the
call. It was super appreciated. And for all your footy. I don’t want to be
one of those people who dags you all the time, so, I dunno, maybe I’ll meet
you down the line somewhere. Thanks again, mate. Fantastic!
And I never rang it again.
Thanks heaps John Butler for re-formating this li’ll story from a landscape format! Yoip!
A pleasure Matt.
Brilliant cartoon and cartooning Matt. Inspirational work.

Thanks, Yvette. I am a massive fan of your work! Of all the Almanacers I was hoping you would see this one, even if not in its original poster size.
