Kim Hughes Interview

A frank interview with Kim Hughes on Australian cricket in his time, his relationship with Dennis Lillee and others, and an interesting take on Australian masculinity.

  1. What a very interesting interview. It seemed to be unguarded and perhaps not properly thought through. A man in Kim Hughes’s position cannot win. Whatever he says will be turned inevitably against him. I remember seeing him bat at the Brisbane Cricket Ground before the captaincy and it was magic to watch. I remember one lofted drive when he went down on one knee and easily cleared the old dog track. He is remembered for the tearful announcement of his resignation. He still has not shaken the schadenfreud. I suspect there are middle aged men who still enjoy that moment. For what it is worth Ican still see that ball climbing into the clear blue afternoon.
