International Cup: Call for writers

We’re looking for writers to help cover the International Cup, which is returning to Melbourne and kicking off on Sunday the 6th of August.

The event brings a host of nations from across the planet to Melbourne, meaning you can hear ‘ball’ yelled in every accent you can think of. Notably, expat Aussies aren’t allowed to compete.

If you’re interested, please drop me an email – [email protected]. Feel free to include when you’re available (fixture overview below).

The competition features two men’s divisions and a women’s divisions, with five rounds of matches to be played.

There are lots of different ways we can split the coverage here, so feel free to leave a note if you have a particular interest in a certain team or division,

We’d also love to gather some pieces about past experiences of your footy overseas (which we’ll publish in the lead up, and then through the tournament), so if you have one to share, please do so!

  1. This is a terrific initiative. I would love to be involved, but unfortunately I don’t live in Melbourne.

Three years ago, I got to see France v Indonesia out at Diggers Rest in what was a pretty entertaining day out.

To listen to the quarter and three-quarter time huddles in French is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
