Haiku Bob – Preliminary Final: cupped in prayer

first bounce
unwittingly my hands cupped
in prayer

distant horizon
the crowd on the edge
of their seats

another beer
so intoxicating
all these goals

a Texan
takes a speccy at the ‘G –
everyone has a story

magpie season –
the unrelenting singing
of magpies

mid-life crisis
a big win over our rivals
buries everything

hours after the win
the soft beat of my pulse
against the pillow

  1. Brilliant, HB.

“a big win over our rivals buries everything”
    Doesn’t it just?

  2. Play on, HB.

All the best with your annual Grand Final haiku kukai.
