Great Scott, Scotty and Marsh too

Today was just a little too much for me.

What with day 2 of the Test, the Cats v Hawks and Adelaide (B&F) all live.  It was a dilemma

Fortunately the test did not provide too many highlights from a spectator’s point of view with the exception of the Marsh and Hussey partnership.  The two sandgropers have batted beautifully with the sage guiding his young apprentice beautifully.

Rumours abound that Dilshan should not be captain of the Sri Lanka Lions and that is from the people in the street.  They are concerned that he is too interested in the financial rewards available.

Watson leaves one that cuts back and bowls him without addition to the overnight score.

The mountains today are Namatjira-esque with a purplish haze enveloping them. The mist is there as well and will it cause the play to be delayed later in the day? Good question

The Geelong road will be starting to get busy as the faithful begin the travel up to the ground for the game against the Hawks.  I reckon around 70,000 will be there.  Bit different at kandy were we be lucky to get 700

Hughes and Marsh are playing as if their lives depend on it.  Safe, no risks, no flamboyant shots.  They are playing for their lives!

Hughes prods forward to Randiv and is plumb.

Clarke attacks from the start using his feet to Randiv but shortly after falls to Chanaka for 13.

3/116 when the rain comes down before Hussey gets to the wicket.

Bit more fire in the bellies of the Lions

3/133 at lunch

After lunch Hussey (68) and Marsh (83) put on a fine partnership that is unbroken at tea time 3/251

It’s  torrid at the G in the first quarter with the Hawks  leading 3-5-23 to the Cats 2-0-12.  Sounds like Buddy and Cyril will be hard to contain

As we predicted rain and the mist curtailed play just after tea with 3/264.  No more play.

Meanwhile back at the G the cats lift there game a notch or five and taken control with two great quarters where they boot 5 apieice.

Hawkins and Ottens are starring as suggested by JTH;

Over in Adelaide Scotty Thompson runs away with the B & F to earn a gold jacket.  Scores 83 votes to second placed VB on 50.

It has been a great day for S.Marsh  who  is moving closer to his century.  Dad does not move from his seat for all the play plus tea since lunch time.  Old habits die hard.

The Cats are home by 29 points and I can sleep easy having captured all three events.

Day 3 tomorrow with the Aussies determined to crunch the Lions .

Some one said sport is a matter of life or death.  Let me tell you it is much more serious than that!
