  1. Haha! Cheeky stuff, ER. Although I must admit I turned off both games around 3/4 quarter time. Not the most exciting matches for a neutral. Seeing champion defender Harry Taylor dominate was awesome but not much else got my heart pumping.

  2. Mark 'Swish' Schwerdt says

The second week of finals under this format is always going to be the least of the four weeks. The narrative is generally similar, two sides looking to avoid being “bundled out in straight sets”, their opponents coming from the lower rungs and playing away.

  3. Yeah, Matthew. Two snooze-fests.
I understand it’s different for GWS, Geelong and Swans, West Coast supporters… but even that footage of near-empty stands in Sydney were a factor in conveying a sense of *bleh.*

Imagine if it was a Tasmanian team hosting West Coast in a final.

Swish – both games played out to ladder expectations. But did so to a surprisingly large extent.
Ultimately, the game is the thing.
    Not the venue.
    Not the merchandise.
    Not the pre-match hyperbole/ music/ sonic assaults.
Just people coming together with family & friends to watch a good, tight game of footy.
These games both over surprisingly early.
