PESEL & CARR MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIP

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers (DMB) purpose as WNBL Club is to create opportunities for the development of women working in professional sport both on and off the court.

A key area that women need greater opportunity and experience is the media and communications roles in a professional sporting organisation.

Pesel & Carr are the Official Communications Partner of DMB.

For the 17/18 WNBL, DMB in conjunction with Pesel & Carr will be offering the inaugural “Pesel & Carr Media and Communications Scholarship”.

The scholarship will be awarded to a current or aspiring woman who is seeking to pursue her career in sports media and communication (including journalism).

The scholarship winner will join the DMB organisation for the full 17/18 WNBL season working as part of the organisation on a full-time basis. Working with Justin Nelson (General Manager) and Lauren Jackson (Assistant General Manager), the position will have responsibility for content creation (written, visual, on-line, social media) throughout the 17/18 season.

The scholarship holder will be mentored by a group of experienced media and communications experts and receive practical development of skills and knowledge from:

Details of the role include:

– Scholarship value = $5,000 – Duration – mid-September 2017 to 31 January 2018 – Based at State Basketball Centre, Wantirna South – Requirements: Tertiary qualification (complete or in progress) in relevant fields of media, journalism or communication. Own car
