Crio’s Racing: the Easter schedule

The Easter schedule has certainly changed in NSW and tomorrow (Saturday) we see the Slipper being run at Rosehill. Tinkler’s scratching of All Too Hard and some tough draws for challengers have made it look very much like Samaready’s year. I was taken with the effort of the maiden Narcissus and must respect all of Gai’s, but this might be a skinny quaddy leg.

The “support” card is outstanding. Despite the tragic death of Pinker Pinker, the Queen Of The Turf which kicks off the multi, is typical of the high standard for the day. I never bet against More Joyous up there. Go one out if you like to leave some room later. King’s Rose will be brave, Hurtle Myrtle was fancied last start and Lights Of Heaven must be monitored in her return.

The raffle really starts up in the 3rd leg, The George Ryder. Niagara was fantastic last time but has an awful gate. Countering this, Gai’s horses are running through brick walls. He goes in. Add 3, 6, 15 and any fav numbers!

I don’t like the closer but suspect 4 and 13 might fight it out.

Another race worth scrutiny is the BMW (R5) in which Manighar has been supported to beat early fav Americain. They are outstanding. Southern Speed and Scarlett Lady might not be quite their class, but will fight out the minor prize.

Elsewhere the national racing calendar is far more traditional. Caulfield hosts its Victoria Cup and Easter Cup Day which is supporting the extraordinary Zaidee Foundation (look it up and get on board) whilst I’ll be over in SA for the big Oakbank Carnival.

But nowhere is far from a race meeting…just in Vic we have Tatura, Bairnsdale, Kerang, Warracknabeal, Terang, Balnarring, Mornington, Stawell, Stony Creek and Swift’s Creek hosting official meetings over the next 2 days. Lots to enjoy over the break.

Good luck!
