Cam Hooke’s Collingwood Life – Round 15 Review

True Believers,I enjoyed that.  The margin was nowhere near my suggested result but there were positives and, like always, negatives.  An example of each was

  • Positive.  I thought we produced another four-Quarter effort.  Regardless of the fact that it was a ‘dour’ game, the effort was there throughout; and
  • Negative.  This was picked up by the commentators during the game. The speed with which the ball moved from the Centre or Backline into the 50 was way too slow.  Our Forwards had absolutely no chance of leading, and competing one on one, for a mark inside 50.  Look at Trav’s numbers – he worked hard with 16 Disposals at 81.3% Disposal Efficiency, which included 6 Contested Possessions and 4 Contested Marks.  His conversion rate was awful, but he needs a greater starting number.

Best.  An interesting list of Best in each Report.  I agree those listed, but would add Varcoe, Sinclair and Treloar to the sum. Not sure I would have included Cox or Reid (though he did have his moments). Your views?

Two’s.  Another VFL win, making six in a row – Significant performers included White, Oxley and Broomhead.

Reports.  Did anyone get to the game?  Report pls?

Next. Next week we start our run to the Finals.  A gap of two games is opening up between the Eight and those outside it.  We are going to have to win and keep winning and expect some drop-off above us.  We have six out of the seven final games this season against teams above us on the Ladder, starting with GWS, at home.  So, next week: Round 16 – Saturday, 9 July GWS at Spotless Stadium; bounce 1.40pm (enough time for an easy day-trip in daylight, Canberra residents).  More on this later in the week.

Keep the faith. Go Pies.
