Art Exhibition for September 2018: Footy, Passion and Pain.

Luke Brown – painter extraordinaire.

Inspired by Yvette Wroby’s artworks and her memoir, Siren’s Call and the paintings of Kate Birrell, the Rotary Club of Caulfield Inc. is hosting the above major Exhibition at the City of Glen Eira Council Gallery in partnership with the City of Glen Eira Council. The Exhibition will be from from 13 September to 7 October, 2018 and will use the entire Gallery space. So a broad spectrum of 2D and 3D works will be sought.

Images do not need to be confined to players in action. The Club is also looking for images depicting the joy, jubilation, poignancy, pathos and downright despair of supporters, fans, volunteers, trainers, coaches, food sellers, families – all of those people somehow attached to a Club – doesn’t have to be AFL/VFL. Anything Australian football which has a story to it, as that is what people like to know.

The call for Exhibitor Expressions of Interest will go out later this year ,but as there are only a few weeks left of the 2017 football season, the Club wanted to let photographers and other artists know about the Exhibition now, so that those who would like to participate can try to capture some emotive images before the 2017 season ends.

This themed exhibition will not have entry fees for exhibitors or visitors. There will be no direct sales of works and no commission to be paid. The aim is to make people more aware of the cultural and community value of Aussie Rules football as part of the social fabric of Australian society and its importance as a means of community connection to provide a powerful sense of belonging.

More information and contact details will follow later in the year.
