Almanac Racing – fascinating rather than fascinators

Lord Aspen surged to victory in R28 at Flemington bringing the week to a close. Nothing had changed. Jock declared it. I stayed out. Staff trudged off course battle weary. I cancelled going to Dunkeld this Saturday. Reckoned I needed a spell. But this Sandown card always enchants me. It’s a gem. There’s something for every type of flat performer and the 1300m and 1500m gates offer points of difference. My pick of the day is Lucky Hussler in the Kevin Heffernan (MR8, 1300m, WFA, G3). Another intriguing race is the Zipping Classic in which I’m inclined to give Big Orange a final chance. Mind you, as my form makes glaringly obvious, I’m also inclined to be wrong.

But I’ll be trying…and trying to find some form by heading down to the Valley to enjoy the beautiful evening and actually see some horses – if I see another bloody fascinator!!!

Good Luck

  1. I’m with you on Big Orange, he will get to run the race he wants. I don’t like any others on the card but my change if a pattern emerges.
Had a big thunderstorm in Adelaide last night and it is expected to rain during the arvo, rail is out 7 metres so presume it will be a leaders day. With that in mind, Tycoon Queen will be hard to beat in the last if it doesn’t get too wet as she improves a fair bit 2nd up.Hadda Couple is a middle pinner with a chance in the 3rd.
