We received this recent enquiry from Robert Simpson:
Hi, I played in the 1973 SA State School boys team, and would like to know if possible the names of the guys I played with? I can’t remember their names? We flew over to Sydney to play in the national carnival. South Australia won the competition. I’m sure some of the guys went onto AFL and league teams?

Our investigations so far have come up with possible candidates including Michael Aish, Mark Weideman, Stephen Williams and Mike Haysman, but we haven’t been able to confirm any of this. (Robert is third from the left in the middle row).
If anyone out there can help track down more about this team on Robert’s behalf, please let us know in the comments below.

Thanks DS, I’ve enlisted Rulebook’s help, so I’ve taken it to the highest reaches of SA footydom. Also sent it on to School Sport SA.
Making headway thru Facebook – Chris Wright who is 3rd from left back row is going to look for the photo.
Peter Semmens is there I have rung him he is going to look for the photo.
Bruce Lindsay is in the side as is John Fitzgerald of tennis fame.
Front row second from left I think its Craig Clohessy Mike Lunniss is first player front row forth player John Fitzgerald Doug Kidd seventh on the front row and Gilbert (can’t remember his last name ) is the last in the front row a great left foot full forward ( from Chris Wright )
Pretty sure the guy in shirt and tie on the left is Mr Tabe. He was a teacher/footy coach at Para Hills.
( from David Haynes and ex redleg Mark Whittington confirmed also sadly Mr Tabe has passed away )
Michael Aish confirmed he’s not there,Michael Lunnis as above is the only player he was definitely sure of
