UNDER 16 GIRLS
The club’s girls team had a busy December, playing 3 games, while a planned 4th game was called off due to heat and will hopefully still be played in early 2020. The game against the Colac CC at Pomborneit on December 1st was particulary historic, being the first meeting between the two clubs since our 1st XI’s last met in the old Corangamite CA in the 1932/33 season (Pomborneit did play Colac on several occasions in the early 1900s)!
Round 6 –
Pomborneit 3/68 lost to
Colac 3/88 (Charlotte Richardson 2/12, Jessica Parsons 1/6)
Round 7 –
City United 5/89 (Stella Horspole 2/12, Charlotte Parsons 1/4, Jessica Parsons 1/10, Charlotte Richardson 1/11) def.
Pomborneit 5/48
Round 8 –
Pomborneit 7/52 lost to
Irrewarra Red 3/143 (Charlotte Richardson 1/14, Charlotte Parsons 1/17)
UNDER 13s
Just the one game for the Under 13s in December, with more games scheduled for February & March. All the best to Finn Tolland, Gavin Reynolds and Ben Whytcross who will be representing the South West CA at Under 13 Country Week at Portland in January.
POMBORNEIT CC CHRISTMAS PARTY
A huge crowd in attendance for our annual Christmas party. Many thanks to everyone who donated prizes, sold Xmas hamper tickets and came along for what was a fun night.
MILESTONE
Club skipper Grant Place played his 200th senior game for the club in Round 11. Club secretary Luke Reynolds paid tribute to Grant at the Christmas party:
FACILITY UPGRADE
The club is excited to announce that our next project is an extension of our existing clubrooms at the Pomborneit Recreation Reserve. All of our fundraising efforts from the past 12 months and into the immediate future will be directed towards extensions to the clubrooms, which will see two new changerooms, showers, toilets and a storage room added to the existing building to handle our growing roster of senior, junior, girls and womens teams. Contact Dave or Luke if you wish to contribute to the project, but the best way to help out is by supporting us in the Toyota raffle, purchasing a ticket to our “Bullnanza” function or by just being around the club on a regular basis following our teams!
TOYOTA GOOD FOR CRICKET RAFFLE
A fantastic fundraiser to get behind as 100% of the ticket money comes back to the club, plus you have a chance to win a car! 1st prize is a Toyota RAV4, 2nd prize a Toyota Camry and 3rd prize is a Toyota Corolla, plus several other great prizes to be won. All money raised will go towards the clubroom extensions. This year tickets are all online, get on board at https://toyotagoodforcricket.raffletix.com.au/pomborneitcc
LAFFS JANUARY PROMOTION
Each month Laffs Clothing & Manchester in Camperdown run a sales promotion, where $1 from every sales item sold is donated to a local club/group/organisation. In January 2020, they will be supporting the four local cricket clubs (Pomborneit, Bookaar, Boorcan and Camperdown) with this promotion! Call in and see the Laffs team for all of your ladies wear, menswear, kids wear, baby wear, corsetry, manchester, school wear, suit hire & haberdashery requirements at 163-165 Manifold St and, if you’re lucky, Liam may even take you through each of his 60 wickets he took in 36 senior games for the Pomborneit CC!
POMBORNEIT CC 12th MAN CLUB
Our coterie group, the “12th Man Club”, has now been going for 12 months! 39 memberships in the first year, an outstanding result. For just $6 a week you can join in the fun of social events, cash draws and raising money for the development of the club’s facilities. Already the 12th Man Club has funded the new premiership photos and frames and the new displays in the clubrooms showcasing our history, published the 2018/19 Annual Report, held social functions in and out of season, and looks forward to contributing to the clubroom extension. The Pomborneit CC is indebted to Steve Murphy for his magnificent work in establishing and promoting the 12th Man Club and running the monthly draws. If you’d like to join in the fun, contact Steve AKA ‘Churchy’ on 0400 076 874.

Great coverage as always, Luke. What a classic result in Division 3, Round 10! How old is Joe Gleeson? I’m sure that’s a partnership that will be the talk of the club for many years to come. #gopombobulls!
Cheers Ian, Joe is 13 and in his first season at the club as an Under 16 player, the Division 3 boys arrived back at the club very pumped after that win!
Thanks for the update on all the happenings at Pombo.
All the best for 2020 as the club looks to extend the facilities.

I just love what clubs bring to the local community, and yours is doing a fine job.
Time to convert those 20’s and 30’s into bigger scores, old mate.
Brilliant Luke. Local sport. So much to like. It’s where my attention is turning as I get older.
