Almanac Cricket – Meet me at the G

Unlike Gideon Haigh who likes to see people under the clocks at Flinders Street my passion is seeing people at the “G”.

There is no doubt about it that the Boxing Day Test Match is the meeting place for people from all over Australia and overseas who congregate at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (the temple of sports lovers) during this time.

I will be down for the convention of the biggest religion in Australia and would love to catch up with fellow enthusiasts somewhere, sometime during the three and a half days of the match.

Yes it will only go for that long given the state English cricket is in at the moment and given the strike force of le trio enfants terrible backed up by the cherry picker from Young, one does not foresee the game going in to the fifth day.

If anybody out there would love to catch up please leave a message on the Knackers Website (in the comments below, for example) and we will see what can happen.  I think J Banister is working on a get-together but I would love to chat with fellow thespians.

Seasons greetings to you all and may the sports be with you.

  7. Dips and others I am hopeful re day 3 but will not be members
I am at the g now

  8. might be an idea to meet at a pub after. Cricketers is as good as any, per the J Bannister plan. Maybe a daily meet for those at the game.

  9. Luke Reynolds says

I’ll be there tomorrow (in a mate’s corporate box) and Day 4 with my boys in General Admission somewhere

  10. G’day Citrus and crew from Up North. Very muggy here in Brisvegas post the Christmas day storm (last night). We are a household of torpor; it’s taking all my energy to even contemplate putting the kettle on.

And from the TV images it looks like there’s runs in this wicket.
